REGULAR MEMBERSHIP

Open to a current employee, retiree, or former employee of Sun Life Canada (Philippines), Inc., its subsidiaries and affiliates

Requirements:

  1. Email an accomplished Regular Membership Application Form and a Group Voluntary Life Insurance Application Form to admin@bestgemcoop.com

  2. Pay a one-time membership fee of P100, the initial share capital of P100, and your monthly Savings Deposit amount

ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP

Open to spouse, child, parent, or sibling of a Best Gem Cooperative regular member.

Requirements:

  1. Email an accomplished Associate Membership Application Form to admin@bestgemcoop.com

  2. Pay a one-time membership fee of P100

  3. For the monthly Savings Deposit, you may directly deposit to Best Gem’s bank account or deduct from the regular member's monthly contribution

  • Who are eligible to become COOP members?
    •Sun Life employees as Regular Members •Former Sun Life employees as Regular Members •Immediate family members (spouse, child, parent or sibling) as Associate Members
  • What are the requirements to become a COOP member?
    1. Membership Application Form 2. Group Voluntary Life Insurance Form (for Regular Member only) 3. P100.00 Membership Fee (one-time payment)
  • How much is the initial COOP contribution?
    P600.00 which is equivalent to your Share Capital.
  • How much is the succeeding monthly COOP contribution?
    P100.00 Share Capital + P100.00 Savings Deposit = P200.00
  • What is Share Capital?
    This refers to the number of shares subscribed by a member.
  • Can I increase my monthly Share Capital contribution?
    No. Mandatory contribution is P100.00 per month only.
  • When can I receive my Share Certificate?
    Share Certificates are issued to members who have completed the payment for 1,500 shares which is equivalent to P15,000.00.
  • What is a Savings Deposit?
    This refers to deposits made by members that can be withdrawn anytime.
  • Can I increase my monthly Savings Deposit?
    Yes, you may increase your monthly savings deposit by sending an email to admin@bestgemcoop.com.
  • How can I withdraw from my Savings Deposit?
    Email admin@bestgem.com. Withdrawal of savings deposit is allowed once every quarter. If more than once, a 1% processing fee will be deducted from the withdrawable amount.
  • What are the types of Time Deposit Best Gem Coop offers?
    1. PLATINUM - 4% interest per annum; term of one (1) year 2. GOLD - 3% interest per annum; term of six (6) months
  • Can an Associate Member place a Time Deposit?
    Yes, an associate member can place a time deposit by emailing admin@bestgemcoop.com.
  • How can I apply for a loan?
    Send your email request to admin@bestgemcoop.com.
  • What is a Patronage Refund?
    This refers to the income earned by the member on the loan interests he/she paid to the Cooperative.
  • What is an Interest on Share Capital?
    This refers to the income earned by the member on his/her paid-up shares.
  • Can I still continue my coop membership after my resignation from Sun Life?
    Yes, you may continue your coop membership by depositing your monthly contributions to Best Gem MPC account and sending a copy of your deposit slips to admin@bestgemcoop.com. BEST GEM MULTIPURPOSE COOPERATIVE BPI CA# 1621-0052-3
  • If already resigned from Sun Life, but still an active Coop member, can I still avail of a coop loan?"
    Yes. Your loanable amount is equal to the amount of your contribution. Post dated checks should be issued to Best Gem Cooperative for the monthly payment of the loan.
  • When can I expect to receive my Dividend and Patronage Refund?
    The schedule is announced during the General Assembly after the Treasurer has declared the percentage to be distributed and the same is approved by the General Membership. Distribution of dividends will happen two (2) months after the General Assembly.
  • When are the loan checks released?
    Loan checks are released every Wednesday and Friday only.
